However, often they will continue to operate for much longer until they get to the point that they eventually malfunction and just service will not correct the problem, at that point a cleaning will be the only thing that will fix it.

For local moves weights and pendulums need to be removed, chime rods and pullys need to be stabilized. On all local moves I always recommend service and rebalance when the clock is put back to run.
